Kamaljeet Singh Tewathia, good job and Thanks for sharing this piece of history of Said-ul-ajaib with us.. This is a Historical place like most places in Delhi. In Delhi, almost all the places have a history to be told and some even dates back to more than 200 years.

Our Vision...Our Village Sayyed-ul-Ajayeb.

Taking this on a little serious note to allay your doubts disbeliefs n misgivings on:
Saidulajaib
Saidlajaab
Saidulabaaj

Origin: This village was named after a saint "Sayyed" from the Slave Dynasty whose "Peer" is present in the village.

Demography: The village was finally inhabited by the "Tewathia" jaats from Ballabhgarh(in Faridabad) who came here along with the army of SurajMal during the Third Battle of Panipat circa 1760.

We have been here since then shifting the occupation from Agriculture to Services.

The Name: In early 1910s my great grand father Dharam Singh, the then SP of Central Province (former Madhya Pradesh) urged British Government to change the name of the village to much simpler "UdayNagar". Alas! had they agreed not citing the "historical peer", there wouldnt have been this FUSS over the Name and me boring my fellow nouveau urbane friends with the small dosage of History.

As for the auto-walahs tell them to take u to Saidlajaab-Saket or Saket D Block. That should suffice, will atleast save u the 'Joey Look".

Ciao

I went to a autowallah and asked him whether he would go to said-ul-ajaib and he was like "Saara Jaam,,,kaha hai jaam,,,agar jaam hain toh hum nahi jayenge".I was irritated at that time but now by remembring it,,,,,,i just laugh it off:)

I even have instances of Webchutney name though. Well.it's better i should not say it all right here.

Nidhi- probably you could write a blog on "Webchutney Ka Jalwa" too.

When I came for my interview to Dilli from Bangalore, when the people at Chutney told me Saidulajaib, i got it more like Said-All-Jawab :-) (All answers Given). But then I found out at the Airport Taxi Stand it was not Said - All - Jawab, rather Said - No - Jawab, and it took me three hours finding the place :-)
